Proposed Submission Core Strategy Development Plan Document: Revision to Policies CS2 (Affordable Homes), CS4 (Tall Buildings) and CS5 (Health and Wellbeing) In light of updated evidence on the viability of affordable housing and representations received on the Proposed Submission Core Strategy tall buildings Policy and community facilities Policy, the Council is proposing revisions to Policies CS2 (Affordable Homes), CS4 (Tall Buildings) and CS5 (Health and Wellbeing) of the Proposed Submission Core Strategy. You are invited to make representations on the proposed revisions to Policies CS2 (Affordable Homes), CS4 (Tall Buildings) and CS5 (Health and Wellbeing) between: 16 January and 27 February 2012. The Proposed Submission Core Strategy (Revision to Policies CS2 (Affordable Homes) CS4 (Tall Buildings) and CS5 (Health and Wellbeing)) is being published in accordance with Regulation 27 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Development) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2008) to allow comments to be made prior to submission to the Secretary of State for Examination. Comments are sought as to whether the proposed revisions are considered to be 'sound' and 'legally compliant'. To be 'sound' the Core Strategy must be justified, effective and consistent with national policy and in general conformity with regional policy. The purpose of the Examination is to consider whether the Core Strategy complies with legal requirements and is ‘sound’ against the government’s tests of soundness.

Description:
In partial response to the civil unrest on 8 August 2011, Croydon Council is currently reviewing the existing Shopfront Security Addenda to Supplementary Planning Guidance No. 1 (SPG No.1). The aim is to align the Council’s planning policy requirements, reflect new shopfront security technology and innovation and provide greater clarity regarding acceptable forms of shopfront security. This document will be adopted as Supplementary Planning Guidance to Replacement Unitary Development Plan (RUDP) policy UD4 of the Croydon Plan (2006). Representations are invited on the Addenda between 16 January and 27 February. Comments must be received by midnight on Monday 27th February 2012.

Description:
Croydon Council recognises that development and growth brings with them the need to increase and update a large range of facilities and physical services to support the community. This essential infrastructure includes schools, play areas, parks, roads and pathways, clinics and health centers as well as community facilities. The Community Infrastructure Levy will allow the Council to require new development to fund, to a reasonable degree, this type of infrastructure. There are several steps in introducing this levy; an early one of which is to consult on the level of charge proposed on new development. You are being consulted about this proposal under the terms of Regulation 15 of the CIL Regulations, 2010 as amended. The consultation period runs from 12th September to 24th October 2011.

Description:
Mid Croydon sits at the heart of the town centre. Containing special elements including Queen’s Gardens, the Clocktower, and the listed Town Hall and art deco Gas Board building, Mid Croydon has all the ingredients of being a fantastic place. But the area does not currently live up to its significant position or its potential. Croydon Council has been working with local stakeholders to produce a draft Masterplan that enables this key area to be regenerated and become a new, mixed community. Between the 12th September and the 24th October we will be consulting on the current draft Masterplan. We want your opinions to feed in to the Masterplan before it is finalised and formally adopted as planning guidance.
